Visit to Kenya
As part of the distribution of the supplies, Barb Briggs went to Kenya on behalf of Africa Book Project. Sending a staff member was vital for the success of the project. While there, Barb was able to make significant progress in getting the containers released from customs, completing the first steps in the waiver process for storage fees in port in Mombasa. She also hired our new Project Director in Kenya who is continuing to follow up daily on the waiver process. Among other activities, Barb also worked on the distribution process, collecting evaluation data on past distributions and researching possible partnerships for future directions. She was also able to visit various communities and schools, including some that ABP has donated books to in the past. It was a great opportunity to meet with community members and collect research on future schools and projects we would like to pursue. It also provided an opportunity to meet the children and teachers that benefit from your contributions!
